Famous user of a Brevetti Robbiati coffee machine: Mairi Nicolson.

Mairi Nicolson graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and worked the last 30 years as a broadcaster on ABC and BBC...
... and she has a lovely smile.

This article dates 1987.

Sunny spells...

(If you understood the wordplay in the title, you are right on this Blog)

This got me smile when not guffaw:

Dior al arrabiata made by Atomic in Milan or by Sears Roebuck & Co in Chicago?
(from an auction catalogue)

I like the name "improvement"... because BreveTTI RobbiaTI rimes... so why not make GiordanO rime with RobbiatO?

Brave TTI... well at least they got the name right.

Exactly the company i have been looking for... surely a company out of shape.

And last but not least... Luiciano who owns the patint rights (Patint means Brevetti).

... Maybe we have to deal with a Opera fan who meant Pavarotti (Luciano)...

Parts of archives... colourful or not...

The Pampered Chef and Dieter Rams.

If you are now a regular visitor of this Blog... you will know at first sight which item ignited my interest when i saw this advert:

I recognized immediately Dieter RAMS's KSM1 coffee grinder from the German company BRAUN.

The leitmotiv of Dieter Rams compacts itself in 3 words: "Weniger aber besser" (Less but better).

He developed 10 principles for what he defines as "good design":

Good design is innovative.
Good design makes a product useful.
Good design is aesthetic.
Good design makes a product understandable.
Good design is unobstructive.
Good design is honest.
Good design is long-lasting.
Good design is thorough down to the last detail.
Good design is environmentally friendly.
Good design is as little design as possible.
(source)

Oh!!! I just notice there is a coffee machine on the right side of Mr. Rams's grinder.
Well, it is not doing a bad impression next to the grinder, isn't it?
... the more i look at it...
the more i think this "good design" principle applies to this Giordano Robbiati's design.

This 1967 coffee grinder was probably still very popular when this advert saw light for the first time in 1975 in the USA.

Before you watch the following videos, have a look in your Bookshelf for the french exhibition catalogue "L'utopie du tout plastique" (page 116). If you haven't got one, make yourself on the search... the book has become a collector item.

If found this interview utmost interesting (Grinder at 00:54):

Or here for the english speaking visitors:

As to the business " The Pampered Chef" in New York, i couldn't find any information (!!!).
There is a very successful "The Pampered Chef" - direct seller of kitchen tools... but it started in the summer of 1980 in Chicago.
The advert dates 1975 , like this one:

Now... if you have a colored (brown, red) Brevetti Robbiati coffee machine at home...

... you will have the very difficult choice to find the right KSM1 grinder to go with it... White is without doubt the most "neutral" choice.

Thank you for visiting my Blog! Keep tuned!
