The mother of all flatheads and the taller daughter - "Atomic" trademark - Brevetti Robbiati coffee machine, Milan

I am very fond of these comparison pictures. Really.

Lucio Del Piccolo probably knows my taste by now and shared these very unique shots.

You probably won't see these paired very often. It is a real treat!!!

Enjoy and celebrate people who live to share, Lucio first!

Szigony Müszaki Vállalat - Svív utca 61

Ok... so after our walk in Vienna, i guess you still have your shoes on...

now, we need a train ticket and a rain jacket...

WE ARE GOING TO BUDAPEST!!!!

3 hours of train...

with plenty of documents to read...

... and the heart full of hope...

In the best case,
the business is still there, closed but there will surely be a lovely elderly women to open the door and show me the basement full of machines in original boxes and tons of documents between the original furniture ( and i might get a coffee even).

In the worse case,

This:
(and it's raining)

I couldn't believe my eyes... so i left and walked and walked, trying to find all the places where the family Stern lived in Budapest.

Finally, i went to the Café New York.

I couldn't believe it, so i went back.

And see the difference it made!!!!

The sun was shining!

and this "we are not working on this garage" building site was still there.

Months later, i found the Family Simon and we went, i was accompanied by Mm. Stern, with Mr. Simon junior to this sad site.

He was telling a lot of stories and childhood memories.
And that was an unforgettable experience!!!

Peace!

(oh, this is quite bad i know, but it looked so naked without jug)

78983 / 79074 - Coffee machine patent - Giordano Robbiati - Brevetti Robbiati, Milan

Well well well...

a little google research Et Voilà!!!

Giordano Robbiati:

Organic, form and function and modernist design classic...

Nothing about graphic, geometric and postminimalism.

Mr. Robbiati didn't only do bulbous.
But enough said, just look at Giordano's 1959 patent:

opposite conical.

Stella Wien - Wollzeile 20

Remember the Wall Plaque ?

Fits well with the street sign, doesn't it?

Stella Wien - Schulerstrasse

Now we left the 3 beautiful buildings, walked the "Graben" in the direction of the cathedral, passed the cathedral on its left side and came to the Schulerstrasse.

If i close my eyes, i can see some interesting coffee machines in the windows.
Got to work on that travel machine again.

Stella Wien - Wallnerstrasse 8

This address is not bad either, just around the corner from the first 1 (Freyung 1) and on a parallel street to the Naglergasse 29.

The palace was built in 1698 and is one of the oldest barock buildings in Vienna.
(i had to smile at the "nach Entwurf eines italienisches Architekten" which means "built after the design of an italian architect")

Look at this magnificent entrance!!!

Majestic!!!

Stella Wien - Naglergasse 29

On the letterheads, you will read the address "Naglergasse 29".

The address is now occupied by the real estate agency REMAX.

If you followed the Blog until now, you might recognize this setting:

If you didn't pay attention, here a comparison picture:

Mr. Stern also lived in this street.

Quite an exclusiv address!!!

Stella Wien - Freyung 1

Since July 2011, Orlando di Castello has become my "local café".
For 2 reasons, first the staff has been trained by Johanna Wechselsberger,
Second, it is the only place in Vienna where you can drink an espresso at the bar for 1€
 (just like in Italy).

So on that very day, i start my "Stella business" walk by an espresso in O.D.C.
I go out of the building, look at the list of addresses i wrote on a Post-it and read "Freyung 1".

I take my map of Vienna out of my jeans back pocket,
Look for "Freyung 1": Page 49, N 12.

I raise my head only to realize that i just got out of "Freyung 1"!!!!

The "Palais Hardegg" is a very majestic building with a light green facade built in 1847 by 2 architects: Johan Romaro and August Schendenwein for the aristocrat Maximilian Hardegg.
A typical "historicist" building borrowing architecture from former centuries (Frieze, Corinthian pilasters etc.)

A nice address too...
