On his first stay in Budapest in March & April 1939, Desider Stern could count on the inconditional help of Coal Wholesaler Mr. Emmerich Winter.
The 2 men met for the first time in Budapest
As Mr. Stern visited him at his office (Winter & Söhne) to inform him of his safe arrival, the telefon rang: It was Richard Román. After this discussion, Mr. Winter told him that if he needs some money, he just needed to go to counter, If he needed a lawyer, he could use his, If he needed an office and a secretary, he could have both.
Mr. Stern made only use of the first offer: the amount? 200 Pengö (around 40USD).
An amount Mr. Stern will reimbourse very soon throught the sale of a license.
Mr. Stern was very impressed by Mr. Winter who helped him without knowing him.
